Live Auctions
How often do live auctions take place and how can I be informed?
Live auctions take place approximately every 3 months. Our customers are informed with printed catalogues sent to them free of charge and/or via email. The catalogues are posted in electronic form and on our site. To subscribe to our clientele and our newsletter, you can register on our site or contact us.
How can I participate in a live auction?
The ways to participate in a live auction are as follows:
• With your physical presence at the auction venue
• By written offer
• By phone
A prerequisite for participation in the auction is the acceptance of its terms.
For physical participation, we suggest you arrive at the venue at least 20 minutes in advance, in order to register and get a bib number. You can hit whatever interests you by raising your bib number. The amount of each hit is determined and announced by the auctioneer, the scale is predetermined and the amounts increase by about 10%. The ticket is awarded to the highest bid. You can also be represented by a third party, as long as they declare both their and your details.
For participation with a written offer, you can submit your written offer by filling out the form you can find here and at the end of our catalogues. The bid amount is the maximum you want to bid and the auctioneer represents you for the lowest possible price and up to the maximum stated amount. You can make a written offer for as many tickets as you want. Send the form by email or call the contact numbers and our staff fills in the form with your suggestion. The submission of written bids can be made from the moment the auction catalogues are posted, up to one hour before the start of the auction. It is recommended to submit up to one day before the start of the auction.
For telephone participation, the procedure is the same as that of participation with a written offer, except that you do not give a maximum amount. At the time of the auction, one of our representatives invites you to the tickets you have declared, informs you about the progress and the hits that occur live and you decide on the spot your own hits. Because the process is fast, please provide a telephone number that you have access to at the time of the auction and you can answer immediately. In case we are unable to communicate, due to your inability, you lose the right to claim the ticket. The submission of telephone bids can be done from the moment the auction catalogues are posted, up to one hour before the start of the auction. It is recommended to submit up to one day before the start of the auction. You can also be represented by a third party, as long as they declare both their and your details.
Can I examine the tickets I am interested in up close?
Before each auction, the dates of the raffle examination are announced, which usually lasts two weeks. We recommend thoroughly checking all the tickets you want to hit. In case you are outside Athens and a third party cannot come to examine the tickets for you, contact us and we give you all the additional information and photos you need. On our site you can find additional photos of the tickets in relation to our catalogs. Information about the tickets and their examination is strictly done until one day before the auction. For your convenience, it is recommended to schedule an appointment.
Can I watch an auction even if I don't want to participate?
You can watch our auction live at the venue, even if you don't want to participate. Unable to follow up by phone.
What is the starting price of the auction tickets?
Next to each ticket description, you'll find the estimate price. The lower of the two values is the starting price. Your bids should be equal to or greater than the starting price. The ticket can start from a higher price than the starting price if more than one written offer has been submitted.
What is the final cost for each ticket I bought?
The total payout amount in live auctions is the sum of the award price, our commission, which is 17%, any royalties, and 24% VAT on the commission and copyright amount. In case the tickets are sent, the buyer is also charged with the shipping costs.
What is copyright in some works?
In some paintings and sculptures, the buyer is also charged with their copyright, as well as 24% VAT on them. When the artist of the work is alive or has died in the last 70 years, then 5% is added to the award price for the part of the award price up to € 50.000, 3% for the part of the award price from € 50.000.01 to 200.000, 1% for the part of the award price from € 200.000.01 to 350.000, 0.5% for the part of the award price from € 350.000.01 to 500.000 and 0.25% for the part of the award price exceeding € 500.000. In any case, this total amount may not exceed the amount of € 12.500.

How can I view and buy unsold auction tickets?

The tickets remain available approximately 30 days after the auction.
Online Auctions
How often do online auctions take place and how can I be informed?
Online auctions happen more often than live auctions. We may have 3-4 auctions per month and they are usually thematic. Our clientele is informed by newsletter. To subscribe to our clientele and newsletter, you can register on our site or contact us.
How can I participate?
Online auctions are done only online, through our site. In order to participate, you must first have registered. Then choose the tickets you are interested in and make your offer.
How long does an online auction last?
Once the list of items is uploaded, you are given a period of time, usually 10-15 days, to bid through the platform and check the items closely. During this time, you can see the current price and how many (in number) offers there are. If there is a bid that changes the bidder of the ticket within the last minute, an additional 2 minutes are added to the expiration so that the previous bidder can respond and avoid the use of special "sniper" software. If no other bids are submitted, the auction closes. Otherwise, the 2-minute is renewed after each change of bidder. Bidders are notified if their bid is no longer the maximum via email, so they can place a higher bid if they wish. The expiration is not simultaneous for all items in the online auction. Items expire 2 minutes apart according to their serial number. It is recommended to be online at the end of the auction for the tickets you are interested in and at a higher price than your bid.
What offers can I give? What is the starting price?
At the start of the online auction, the starting price of each ticket is shown in green letters. Once there are promotions for this ticket, the price with green is the current price. Below the bid box, you'll see the minimum bid you can make. The price of the minimum bid is determined by existing bids. If there's already a higher bid than yours, the current price changes to a higher bid than your bid and gives you the option to bid more. The system immediately informs you if you are the highest bidder with the message "High bid". If you stop being the highest bidder, you will be notified by email. Each offer differs from the previous one by about 10%.
Can I examine the tickets up close?
Yes. For as long as the online auction is active, you can examine the tickets at our offices, up to one working day before its expiry.
What is the final payment amount?
The final payment amount is the same as in live auctions. It is the sum of the award price, the commission of our house which is 15%, any copyright and VAT 24% on the amount of commission and copyright. In case the tickets are sent, the buyer is also charged with the shipping costs.
What is copyright?
In some paintings and sculptures, the buyer also bears their copyright, as well as VAT 24% on them.
